The last big update for a while.

The last big update for a while.

I'm thrilled with the progress I've made with Zuri so far. It feels like a suitable proof of concept and foundation to build upon.

There will be bugs and some placeholder art in the current build, but what's there is perfect for collecting feedback.

If you have time to play, I'd be very grateful. Please feel free to message me or leave a comment below.

To get into some details, here's what's happening in the kitchen…

I'll be writing and mapping out the complete story that Zuri will embark on, fleshing out the characters and history of the world. The aim is to make these characters feel like they had lives before the game and before they met Zuri. And the world to feel lived in.

I'll be reworking/polishing some mechanics like…

Combat. I feel combat isn't fun. I want to experiment with contemporary combat mechanics like dodging and parrying/countering. My main issue is that the weapon feels more valuable to puzzle-solving than dispatching enemies. I want to create a better balance.

The concept of the races is fun. However, they feel unfair when the difficulty ramps up. Therefore, I'd like to focus on it as its own game, ensuring fun and challenge are achieved before making it part of the Zuri experience.

I'm happy with the sound design in the game. However, I'd like to flesh out the open-world soundscape by adding birds and crickets. Also, add more sound effects, like when enemies get hit, or a player walks through doors.

I'll also be doing general bug fixing.

So if you've read this far, thanks for reading and hopefully playing, I appreciate it.

Changes:

-Music and sound effects added.

-Placeholder artwork mostly replaced.

-Can now obtain 14 shards
